Just a storm

Iiiiiif you live in England, The Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden or wherever it hit, you probably have figured that we had a storm today!

I won't go into many details but... this storm is (at least when it comes to Denmark) the worst in 11 years o__O I'd heard a lot about it in the news and heard how people had prepared for it but the medias tend to always exaggerate stuff! I hadn't expected this one to be bad and honestly.. I still don't think it was as big and bad as everyone said it was -.-

I live on the west coast of Denmark so we were going to be the first ones to get hit and it was also going to stay here for the longest period of time. It was going to hit us at 2pm so around 1pm it was announced that 4th period had been cancelled for the entire school and now teachers were telling students to go home as I was walking to the door. They even added a little box saying "storm" and had the entire school attend.

So you know how some American schools decide to give their students snow-free for a day or two?
I guess you can say I had storm-free .____.

It's odd. This morning as I was walking towards my class, I looked at a tree and thought "I wonder if it's going to fall..." and lookie here! It certainly did.
My school posted this picture on their Facebook page short after everybody had gone home, and wished us a "happy storm". Here on the west coast we don't take storms that seriously. I mean, the emergency services had prepared but normal people like you and I wouldn't do much. It's not that we buy a lot of food and go hide in a basement. No. We simply go outside, move the furniture in our garden, move our garden trampolines, put on a pair of rubber boots and a warm jacket and live on.

Soooooome people were a little too carefree though...
This is a picture I found on my facebook short time ago

I guess tomorrow we will hear how many have been injured and how much it's all going to cost. Just like every other storm..

Oh well, happy storm everybody!

Not really an update

Have you ever heard the saying:
"Say something nice or don't say anything at all!"

I like the thought of it; just think of how amazing a world we would live in if those negative people would stop pointing out flaws in everything and everyone around them. Of course it wouldn't always be as good an idea when it comes to certain objects. Like food.

"Hey Harold, how do you like your soup?"
"Oh it's just great! It really has an amazing flavah!"
"Wow really?"
"Yes yes, you should try it, bud"

And then it turns out what was supposed to taste like a sweet strawberry shortcake tastes like garlic mixed with half a durian boiled in a pair of 2 year old gym socks.
No. Let's be critical when it comes to certain things.

But those people telling what they think about you?
Do you think I care about you calling me weird? What are you trying to achieve? Yes. Silence is indeed golden and I wish more people would follow his saying. Some of them really needs to just SHATH APP!

Anyhow, my point was that, usually, I like to follow this. Negativity isn't going to help anything so better just keep it to myself and that's why I skipped a few days of blogging.
Today my mood is much better so I thought I'd update you guys a little :)

I've been discussing with my parents if I could go overseas this year for Christmas.
And... being an 18 year old girl alone in the world.. my mom wasn't exactly a fan of the idea. I asked what her concerns were and answered them so she no longer has any good arguments against it (convincing her is no big deal) but my dear dad is the problem!
I was an exchange student last year and I already left in September. I wasn't allowed to go home for Christmas and my family wasn't allowed to visit me because "it could cause homesickness and it would ruin their program", so instead we had a Skype Christmas which is described further in THIS post.
Aaaand now this year he wants me home for Christmas... well I hope I can go though. He said he needed some time to think about it in so... we'll see. I'll keep you updated!

Fall break has begun + Christmas overseas?

Hello hello hello!  \(-^〇^-)/

Last night I went out to celebrate my friend Sushi's birthday with Søren, Signe, Karoline, and of course the birthday girl herself who was turning 18! Woooh!!
Both Søren and Susanne only had one class today and they even had to meet late for it and could therefore say out longer than Signe and I who had two classes each but still had to meet at 8am. I didn't get to sleep before... 3.30 I think and surprisingly I wasn't the least tired when I went to school. It might have been because I was excited. In my excited state I am never tired!

Why was I excited you ask?
Because after having my two classes today, my fall break started!!
9 days of.... doing nothing... - - Well at least that'll give me more time to work on my Halloween stuff.
Yeah, as you might have seen of my beauty blog (shame on you if you haven't!) I put up a make-up tutorial for Halloween and I had actually expected a couple of my friends to have rather negative reactions but, so far, all I've got has been a lot of positive feedback! That sure was a pleasant surprise ^o^
I had a LOT (and I'm not exaggerating) of troubles making the video but it sure turned out to be worth it!
There are a couple of things now that I know I could have done better, so there's a slight possibility I might make a new version later on. Much later on.
Hopefully I will get to make a 1, 2, or maybe even 3 more of these before October 31st. We'll see.

Here is a link to the blog post about my video. You can view pictures or go to the video on YouTube from there ----->  Halloween Tutorial - Broken Porcelain Doll

Something else that has been taking up a lot of my time has been my travel plan.
Some time ago, my friend Ann-Kathrine (AK) and I had been talking about going to Singapore, just the two of us, and celebrate Christmas.
AK has, ever since I was 6, been one of my best friends. This year she returned from having lived with her family in Qatar for 4 years now and while she was there, she attended an American High School. Many international workers go to Qatar and while she was there, she made a good friend who now resides in France. Just a few weeks ago AK passed me up and told me that her friend had invited her down for Christmas and since we didn't have any actual plans yet, I wouldn't stop her.
But I'm also that type of person who, once I've set up my mind for something, finds it hard to cancel plans.

~Well.. I guess I could always go somewhere by myself?~ I thought.
So I contacted some people here and there and... it seems like I'll be aiming for Christmas + New Years in Malaysia instead!
Since I wasn't home last year to celebrate either of these days with my family (because I was an exchange student in California), my parents didn't like the thought of it that much. My mom was worried about me going alone and my dad.. he's more sensitive than you'd think when it comes to his little girl. But my parents will never stop me if it's something I really really want to do. They proved that when they sent me to America.
What I'm currently doing is that I took all their concerns and questions...
"When?"          "Where will you be staying?"          "Do you need any vaccines?"          "Is it safe?"
"Who'll pick you up?"          "How will you get away from the airport?"
"How much are the plane tickets?"             "How will you get around?"            "How will you avoid being roasted in the sun?"          Does the insurance cover you?"
"How can we still celebrate Christmas together then?"

...and wrote them down on a piece of paper so I can figure one thing at the time.

My main concerns right now are the plane tickets; I won't have enough money for the tickets that I want before November. Until then, I can't afford to spend much and my concern right now is that the tickets I want might already be sold out if I have to wait until next month :/ What if that happens and I'll be forced to pay more in order to get tickets? I might not be able to afford the others...
I can't just buy any tickets... there are some countries I would really NOT like to be alone in > <

But this is my new project and I really want to do it!
The word has already spread around the place and all of my friends there are already super excited to see me. I need to make this happen. I must!

Non-ambitious people

I'm sitting in class and letting time pass. About a quater ago, a woman came in and told us our Danish teacher was sick and therefore had cancelled class. Well, the bus is quite pricy here so I decided to just stay at school with the rest of the poor lazy people and wait for history class to begin. Then it hit me...

It's been some time since I last blogged. Actually, it's been a couple of days since I last checked out the blogosphere.

Before October, a good friend of mine and I decided to make a little Halloween project. I happen to be a super ambitious person and 90% of the time, people can't follow me. Like, they just don't get my ideas. If I ask people to help me with stuff, I often end up getting the same answer:

"You want to do what? How? That's like... impossible! You can't do that"

And every time I prove them wrong. It's such an amazing feeling hahah

Anyhow, this time my friend agreed with me and we both really wanted our little project to happen. We bought the stuff we needed and found the stuff we already had but... in the end.. I'm afraid it might not turn out how I wanted it. I'm glad she is just as crazy as me and supports such a crazy idea but.. we'll see.
So what is this Secret Halloween Project? Well... as I'm still not sure if I can really make it work out, I won't tell you yet :P All I can tell is that it includes recording and fast computers... which I have had several troubles with the past few days -____-

I'll work hard though! Can't just give up without fighting!
